Under the leadership of Adrian Dallara, Geri Weiss and Vanessa Dallara the Harry Dallara Foundation held a very successful fundraiser at Harmon Field on Saturday, May 28th with approximately 125 people in attendance.
The event began with Welcome Remarks by Adrian Dallara, followed by Special Remarks from Vanessa Dallara, the daughter of Stephen Dallara. The Honorable Tryon Mayor Alan Peoples then extended a brief word of welcome to all on behalf of the Town of Tryon. This was followed by a moving invocation offered by Sam Foster, a Senior Advisor to the Board and long-time supporter. Then it was time to play ball!
DJ Ethan Burns provided great music throughout the event, including special “walk-on” music for the youngsters playing the first game. He also provided excellent announcement of the actual games, so he may have a future as a sports announcer!
The Polk County Wolverines narrowly defeated the Boling Springs Dodgers in a thrilling walk-off win to open the competition. Both teams played exceptionally well. Between the two games there was a touching presentation of medals by youth baseball players to each of the police officers and firefighters participating. It was a fitting tribute to these brave men and women on Memorial Day.
For the younger children in attendance the Foundation arranged a bouncy house and basketball game, both of which were very popular with the children and their parents.
